There is no breathing space as if you don’t have any sense to apply to the task given. Your humble suggestions even though might be the best option, will not be considered let alone taken. All mistakes are directed to you and you are made to feel like a puppet!
2. If You’re Told or Made to Feel “Lucky”
What’s more, if you’re told or made to feel “lucky” in your place of work then you’ve indeed landed in a toxic work environment. Job is scarce these days no doubt, however, organizations need not use it to their advantage. Unfortunately, this is what is happening. Employees are not treated fairly in a toxic work environment. Employees are expected to work all day and week without reasonable breaks. Toxic work employers expect their employees to sacrifice their annual leaves. There is little or no respect for employees’ time or personal needs.
Employees’ reasonable requests for time off or flexibility are repelled or punished, or squashed by guilt. Toxic work environment wreaks havoc on employees’ personal lives, and health.

If you realize that communication from top to bottom, among level workers and from bottom to top is poor, then it is a red flag that you’re in a toxic work environment.
What does poor communication mean? Poor communication means a lot. It has to do with a lack of clarity of information or confusing information, insufficient communication, and employees receiving different messages to the same project.
Check my personal experience here. A coworker was given a project to work with. Information as to how to execute the project is not enough. That was not his first time; he used to do those projects often. However, this particular one has to be done differently.
Since he was not given enough information, he executed the project using the old method. Superiors hand over the blame to the poor employee. I try to reason with them that it’s their lack of proper communication on how to do the work so is not his fault. That brought the third world war!

5. No Motivation Among Workers
Motivation can be intrinsic or extrinsic, both have to balance. If your source of motivation is too intrinsic, it’s a red flag that you’re in a toxic work environment. The more you are motivated, the more you put in more effort. If you’re surrounded by coworkers that are not motivated hence have little or no enthusiasm to work, you will have yourself burn out soon.
Since you don’t want to give up, you are going to shoulder the workloads. Check out your work environment and see whether employees are happy on the job or it’s just complaints day in day out? See if you’re happy working? Are conversations positive and upbeat? A negative answer to those questions means a toxic work environment.
6. Stunted Growth
Signs of a toxic work environment include stunted growth. You need to get better and get experienced just as you’re helping your organization to meet its target and grow. Ask yourself whether you’re growing or you’re just the same? If the answerer is yes, then your workplace does not invest in the growth of their employees hence your growth may stifle.
Ask yourself these questions: Does my workplace offer learning opportunities? Do they recommend hard but smart working employees? Is there any mobility? If the answer to these questions is negative, then you’re surely in a toxic work environment.

One of the signs of a toxic work environment is that employees are not given credit when they deserve it. The bosses over them present themselves as the brains behind the success and gain all credits and favors from the big bosses.
A toxic work environment and, therefore, toxic managers rarely recommend hard and smart working employees. Instead of praising you for your immense contribution to the growth of the organization, petty faults are directed towards you. In summary for this point, in a toxic work environment, there are no credit, feedback, and recommendations for employees.

When compiling lists of a toxic work environment, high and rapid employee turnover is among the top 3. Any workplace that has high and rapid employee turnover means things are not going on well. It’s hard for employees to leave an organization that treats them well.
Ask for the number of people that have occupied your position before you and conclude for yourself. If employees are laid off, fired, or are resigning willingly, it’s a great sign that you’re indeed in a toxic work environment.
